We support #EndCOVIDForAll in the pursuit to have further aid sent to developing countries
Australia has had a hard time navigating the new world with Covid-19. Just when things have started looking up, crisis has ensued, and we are back defending those most vulnerable in our communities. Social distancing, working from home and regular testing have become integral parts of our daily lives to combat the virus. With all this occurring, we have had to sit back and watch as countries around the world take all different approaches in their fight and the impact it has had on them.
Many developing countries around the world were not even in a position to try to protect themselves Covid-19 when it hit, due to a lack of resources. This was the case for the countries we work in overseas. While Governments have taken action and established lockdowns, the high population densities of many places have meant that an outbreak is almost impossible to contain.
As we saw in our Personal Protective Equipment campaign, hospitals overseas have been severely under resourced. Your support helped us to provide PPE to Sheer Memorial Hospital in Nepal, where originally, they had only one set of PPE between all staff. This hospital has been an integral part in Nepal’s work at keeping their community safe and your contributions meant safety for patients and staff alike.
More recently, your contributions to our Family Food Fund has helped us provide families with much needed food relief to ensure already vulnerable children are not placed under further stress because Governments in India, Bangladesh and Nepal have closed schools and sent children home.
Our relief work has shown us the dire need for resources in these countries as well as other developing countries world-wide. Limited access to things such as clean water and soap has restricted safe practices in these communities.
That is why today, and every day, we support #EndCOVIDForAll in their pursuit to have further aid sent to these developing countries who are unable to help themselves. Helping those in need is at the core of who we are and providing access to resources is the first step in ridding our world of Covid-19 and to #EndCOVIDForAll.
It’s not over until it’s over for everyone. So join us as we look to #EndCOVIDForAll.
