From Toddlers to Graduates

In June, 12 children from our school in Nepal have successfully graduated from school and are moving on to higher education. Many of the graduates were little toddlers facing different hardships and were at high risk of trafficking before they were sponsored to attend school. Some sat by the river along with their mother working in the scorching sun and did not have any hope of going to school, while some lived in extreme poverty. Some are from the area where there is no school and the community themselves are illiterate.

The hard work of our partner team and the school staff have helped these twelve graduates achieve a milestone in their lives and be responsible citizens of the country. With the help of the holistic education and the necessary skills received, we are certain that these young people will live a dignified life free from poverty and trafficking. In addition to this, the skills they have learned here will help them to have a beautiful future ahead.

One part writer, one part photographer & two parts traveller… Three years ago I decided something needed to change, so I quit my corporate job and started working for Asian Aid from my home in India. I travel to projects and schools we support in India and Nepal, bringing you their stories through words, photos and video. Since then I have been visiting Asian Aid projects with my camera and notebook in tow, to bring pictures and stories from the field to you.
