Food Relief Update, Bangladesh

The situation in Bangladesh continues to worsen and Covid 19 is spreading rapidly. The challenges faced by our Partner for food relief in Bangladesh has been enormous with the task of obtaining a regular food supply and then its safe distribution while lockdown still applies to the whole of Dhaka and much of the rest of the country.

We are delighted to announce our Partner, BCSS has successfully completed relief family food fund parcel collection or financial relief transfers to those students who were too remotely located to collect their parcels and are in the process of planning to continue our food relief in Bangladesh measures for this quarter.

Food Relief in Bangladesh

Besides food relief in Bangladesh, They have also managed to recommence and complete several building projects in our schools and within the communities where we have Projects including improvements to the Maisie Fook School including the completion of new security wall, electrical upgrades and the construction of a new playground.

We are reminded of the passage, “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved” (Psalm 55:22).

Admist this Covid-19 crisis, we have unfortunately lost a number of donors due to financial distress.

One such student was Nentu. Nentu is the oldest child in a family of four (two younger brothers who do not attend school and a younger sister who does) with a single mum. He was very concerned to learn his sponsor could no longer continue to support him. He was scared and begged for help. Milton from BCCS asked Nentu to pray with him and to share passages of Scripture back and forth. As Milton was discussing this case, our Programs team was able to immediately identify a new sponsor for Nentu. We were all moved and happy to see the power of prayer and faith produce such an immediate (and rare) result for Nentu.
