Benjamin (second from right) is a local celebrity at his school in Kathmandu. Kids come running to him just to say hello. They are eager to get a pat on the head or a gentle word from him. Benjamin himself cannot contain his smiles and enthusiasm! You can see his joy when he is around kids.
He works in COSAN’s school in Kathmandu as a librarian and music teacher. “I love kids. I like to have fun and teach them as a friend and not as a teacher,” he said.
Benjamin has been in this school almost his entire life. He started as a nursery student when he was only four. His mother was a caretaker in the school and his father was the gardener and secretary for many years.
“The environment here is really good. The college I studied in was so different. The teachers here are very friendly and the students are understanding,” he said.
His dream is to study social work and work in organisations where he can help children.
“I love children and I know how it feels to go through hard times,” he said. “I would like to help families and children who are facing the same.”

Two years ago I decided something needed to change, so I quit my corporate job and started working for Asian Aid from my home in India.
Since then I have been visiting Asian Aid projects with my camera and notebook in tow, to bring pictures and stories from the field to you.
