Keeping Busy During Lockdown

With lockdowns slowing things down, we have been thinking of ways to keep children in our school campuses busy and engaged. These co-activities are a crucial part of teaching and learning in our schools, and this has been an ideal time for learning life-skills.

In one of the schools, the huge campus has been kept clean to create a safe and healthy learning environment. The large campus has many trees, garden, and school buildings which need to be maintained. Campus cleaning activities have helped in ensuring cleanliness, as well as reduced waste, and protected the health of students and staff.

Teachers and students also enthusiastically joined in helping plant paddy in the fields near the school. They woke up early everyday and went to the fields, laughing and working together. In another school, they made of their time by harvesting paddy. The rice made from this paddy is used in the schools for food.

One part writer, one part photographer & two parts traveller… Three years ago I decided something needed to change, so I quit my corporate job and started working for Asian Aid from my home in India. I travel to projects and schools we support in India and Nepal, bringing you their stories through words, photos and video. Since then I have been visiting Asian Aid projects with my camera and notebook in tow, to bring pictures and stories from the field to you.
