We are committed to protecting your privacy and the information you entrust us with. That’s why it is important to us that you are confident about how we will use your information.
Mailing Lists
Asian Aid has a strict policy to never share, sell, rent, lease or otherwise make available its mailing list. The Asian Aid mailing list is maintained only to assist us in sharing news about our work with you.
Donors and sponsors can have their names removed from the mailing list by calling or writing to us.
Sharing of Information
Unless we receive permission from you to do otherwise, or in situations required by law, we will not share personal information with others.
Collection and Use of Information
We will only collect personal information necessary to: receive and receipt donations; keep donors informed; communicate well; fundraise; and better understand our donors. To do this we may need to keep records of:
- Names and addresses
- Telephone numbers and email addresses
- Credit card details where direct deductions have been duly authorised
- Bank account details where direct deductions have been duly authorised
- Names and details of a group sponsorship
From time to time we may seek personal information to help us understand the needs of our supporters and their demographics (age or occupation). This information is not shared with other organisations.
We collect statistics on visitor traffic to our website through “cookies”. These are anonymous and do not identify you. We may also anonymously track your visit to our website by using information collected by others. For example, we use Google Analytics Demographics which tells us things like gender, age range and interests of site visitors – without giving us any information that could be used to identify you. This enables us to better understand how our website is used and what you are interested in.
If you prefer not to allow this, you may be able to adjust your browser to turn off use of “cookies” or notify you when they are being used. You can also opt out of programs like Google Analytics if you wish: op-out. However, if you disable cookies, you may not be able to access certain areas or take advantage of certain features on our website.
Our Record Keeping
Asian Aid commits to keeping your personal information safe at all times. Staff access is limited to a “need to know basis”. Credit card information is stored securely.
General Information
Staff will conduct a proof of identity check before discussing personal information with a donor over the phone.
Sharing Information Between Sponsors and Children
Our child protection and privacy policies do not allow us to exchange personal details and addresses between sponsors and recipients. In situations where an address has been included on a letter or parcel, Asian Aid’s partner agency will remove the address before forwarding the material to the sponsor child.
Accessing Information and Lodging a Complaint
Donors and sponsors have the right to access all personal information about them that we store. We can verbally supply information or send it by mail. In the case of a complaint, please Contact Us as soon as possible.
