Download Project Profile

As a result of lifting heavy weights and poor nutritional diets many women in Nepal suffer terrible physical and emotional pain as well as social and even family rejection. The Women's Reproductive Rights Program is working to prevent incidences of uterine prolapse. The focus of the project is on preventative education and establishing reproductive rights of women. Asian Aid is already conducting operations for women suffering from uterine prolapse with over 6,000 successful operations to date. However this project is aimed at preventing new cases by raising awareness of uterine prolapse in the community. This will be done by including men and women, media and policy makers including parliamentarians and the donors.

As people hear the message of how to prevent uterine prolapsed it is encouraged that they will share this information with their friends, family and community so that there can be understanding and support for young women to prevent this occurring to them and acceptance and support for those with the condition. Women identified as suffering from uterine prolapsed will be passed on to our uterine prolapse operation project for treatment.
