The Health & Education Lifestyle Program (H.E.L.P.) is teaching health, English and positive life skills to students and teachers in two schools and Sade village in Lombok, Indonesia. Lombok is an island next door to Bali where there is a growing number of opportunities for people to gain meaningful employment in the tourism industry especially if they can speak English. Lombok is different from Bali in that there is a strong Muslim culture and most of the young people in schools are Muslim.

A major component of H.E.L.P. is an English language course teaching pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and conversational English including the Eight Laws of Health and moral topics relating to the English content. We are working with secondary students who particularly need to improve their English to find a job or continue studying.

The project is run by volunteers who are in Lombok, Indonesia living and teaching the lifestyle - our witness to the people of Lombok is an important part of our work. Our dress, speech, diet, morals, in fact everything we do and say is under the microscope of the beneficiaries. The project now has a small library of suitable books and videos we lend to those who are interested in learning. The project integrates with the local people, they cook with the villagers, and are invited to all their events, big and small; weddings, funerals, the birth of a baby or gathering coconuts.

All donations are tax deductible.
